Lanzarote Half Marathon

From Anna

Chris and I ran the Lanzarote Half Marathon.
The race started early at 07.45 so we stoked up with food the night before so we didn't need to eat breakfast at silly o'clock. The weather was windy, sunny and warm as we clocked up the miles going up the volcanic mountain, and down again before running round the headland and back to the race track where we started. The scenery of the coast was stunningly beautiful.
The race had chipped timing and I was overjoyed with my time of 1.54.24 (18th out of 32 ladies) on my debut half marathon, especially as we had cycled a mountainous 80 km at a good pace in a peloton of 10 cyclists the previous day. Chris ran a steady, controlled race and finished in 1.49.54.
We went off for a bumper breakfast to start stoking up for the triathlon the following day...
