Gary, Paula, Paul and I travelled to Devon for the Grizzly this weekend. Most have you have heard our tales of this event before, this year it was the same course as last September with added wintry weather! It was 19 miles of up and down, beach and bog, sun and hail stones. It's fair to say I'm tired now!
Gary knocked around 15 min of his 2007 time finshing in 35th in 2:44:41. Paula did brilliantly in her first Grizzly to finish in 134th in 3:01:23 (we're not sure how she did in the ladies race but the first lady was Donna Mckewan from Bedford Harriers just after Gary so we reckon she did pretty well). Clive and Oliver offered excellent support en route too!
Gary and Paula refueled on fish and chips while they waited 2 hours for Paul and I to crawl in. Paul finished just ahead of me in 1216th/4:46:08. He'd suffered badly from cramp (ouch!) in the latter half of the race and I finished in 1219th/4:46:33 which was 10 minutes faster than last time with a lot more mud!
