MARATHON MARVELS!

 

7 North Herts Road Runners travelled to Rome at the weekend to compete in the marathon and were rewarded with 4 personal best times and a new club record!  V50 Alan Jones lead the runners home in 3.16.28, knocking 7 minutes from his previous best, whilst lady V40 Jo Summers set a new club record with her 3.26.33 clocking beating the previous record, which had stood for 7 years, by 5 minutes.  V50 Paul Kelly finished in 3.26.20 whilst Jon Hunt, running in only his 2^nd marathon, was an amazing hour faster than his previous effort finishing in 3.31.15. closely followed by Mike Moralee in 3.39.34 and Sharon Gregson with a new PB of 3.48.32.  Paul Bowal completed the course in 4.40.43. 

 

Meanwhile in Monaco Sue Foot was also setting a new club marathon record for lady vets 55 with a stunning 3.46.43, smashing the previous mark by 40 minutes!

 

                      

 

Dutch PB!

V60 Stewart Smither travelled over to The Netherlands in search of a 10km PB and was rewarded with a 41.45 clocking in the Ing Venloop 10km held in Venlo.  Stewart finished 56^th out of 2106 finishers!

 

Stair crazy!

North Herts Road Runners Neil Bashford took part in a race with a difference last week when he competed in the Shelter Vertical Rush.  The event which raised £100,000 for the charity saw competitors running up 42 floors of Tower 42 in London, 920 steps!  Neil started in wave 4, 30seconds after 3 Gladiators and Dragon Duncan Bannatyne.  Passing the Gladiators at floor 20 and the Dragon at floor 27 Neil was delighted to finish first at the top in 6.33, 7^th fastest in his category.  Neil is now planning to take part in the Sky Tower dash in Auckland, New Zealand.
