Brilliant at Bury and Blackpool!

4 North Herts Road Runners continued their marathon preparations with excellent results at the Bury 20 mile on Sunday. First home for the club in 37th position was Adrian Sherwood in 2.20.46 closely followed by Mark Young with 2.21.48 in 38th. Melissa Winters finished 43rd overall and 5th lady in 2.23.15, with Richard Thackeray finishing 85th in 2.35.10. Also in action but in the 10mile race was Mike Mello who secured the highest male finish of the day, 28th in 69.30.

Further afield James Atkins was competing in the Great North West Half Marathon in Blackpool and was delighted to knock a staggering 4 minutes off his previous PB finishing in the top 30 in 1.19.10.

On Saturday 4 road runners took part in the toughest cross country this season running in the English national championships at Parliament Hill in London. 7 miles of hills and mud proved a considerable challenge but Gary Cook was delighted to finish 524th out of a field of 1455 runners in 50.13. V50 Chris Priestley also ran well to finish 1175th in 1.00.38. In the ladies 5 mile race new team captain Tash Pitman finished in the top half of the field, 269th in 40.11 with Lindsay Cook finishing 524th in 53.56.
