Astrid McKeown of the North herts Road Runners put in a splending performance on Sunday to come 2nd in the ladies' race at the Leighton 10 mile. Astrid set a new v35 Club record finishing in 1.01.03. Peter Scrowther was the first man home for the Squirrels. He built on his recent 10 mile form by finishing in a personal best time of 1.03.37 and 24th place in a tough field. Paul Kelley was 48th in 1.07.51 and Alan Jones continued his marathon preparation coming home in 1.09.06.
Jo Summers travelled down to the New Forest at the weekend and returned with sub-four hour marathon under her belt. She took part in the beautiful New Forest marathon and completed the hilly but well supported course in 3.47. A number of NHRR racers were also involved in the Quicksand 15 at the weekend. The race is run mainly on sand but with some patches of rocky terrain. Marcelo Conetta was the first to finish for the North Herts Road Runners in 32nd and a time 2.05.56. Christine Sharp completed the arduous course in 2.44.51 for 106th place with Jean-marc Beloulou coming home 3.04.16 and Jonathon Pang in 3.07.35.
