RE: NHRR Report

Astrid McKeown notched up another victory for the North Herts Road Runners at the weekend. Along with a number of other Squirrels she took part in an invitational 10k race organised by the Bedford Harriers from Bedford International Stadium. Astrid came home first in the ladies' race in a time of 37.00 to pick up another trophy in an already successful season. Steve McKeown also had an excellent run. He finished 2nd in the men's race in a strong fireld of local club racers in a time of 34.54. Pete Northover was also in action and posted a time of 38.13 with Dave Frampton finishing shortly behind in 38.49. Stewart Bryant and Paul Bowel also took part and crossed the line in 39.20 and 48.36 respectively. John Russell made a welcome return from injury to complete the course in 43.26.

A number of NHRR members travelled to Cambridgeshire on Sunday for the ever popular Grunty Fen half marathon near Ely in Cambridgeshire. Adrian Sherwood was the first to finish for the club in 58th place and a time of 1.29.03. Richard Thackery was next home, 10 places further back and in 1.30.38. Gary Cook continued his training for the Autumn marathon season by completing the 13.2 mile course in 1.31.16 and his wife Lindsay, who was also in action, crossed the line in 2.05.20. Another couple running the Fenland course were Martyn and Rachel Annetts. They came in together in 1.59. Paul Kelley, Alan Jones and Micheal Mello were the other Squirrels involved and they finished the race in a closely packed group and 1.33.11, 1.33.12 and 1.34.28 respectively.
