NHRR Report

On Friday 20^th June 2008 Gary Cook and Chris Priestley of the North Herts Road Runners took part in the Last Friday of the Month 5k in Hyde Park. June’s running of the monthly event was in fact inappropriately named given that the race had to be moved from the real final Friday to make way for Nelson Mandela’s 90^th birthday celebrations. Gary completed the course in 17.33 to finish in 9^th place. Chris was 81^st in 21.29.

The Marston 5k also took place on Friday. The event was held in the Bedfordshire village of Marston on a pleasant evening. Eight North Herts Road Runners took part in the event including three members of the Harbon family. Helen Harbon was third in the under 17 category finishing in 27.14 while Richard Harbon was first to finish for the club in 48^th place and 19.12. The NHRR ladies scooped the team prize with some impressive performances. Natasha Pitman took 4^th place in the ladies race in 19.23 with Paula Adams following in 5^th in 19.23. Jo Harbon crossed the line in 22.51

Martyn Annetts was 57^th overall in 19.41 with Linda Aird finishing in 24.33. Rachel Annetts came home in a time of 24.52.

Michale Mello travelled to Colworth on 22^nd June to take part in the town’s half-marathon. He finished the hilly, multi-terrain in 1.50.37.
