Gary and Lindsay Cook represented the North Herts Road Runners at the South of England Athletics Association Cross Country Championship on Saturday. The race took place in Hillingdon House Farm near Uxbridge and attracted the most talented runners from the South of England. Conditions were perfect for cross country: wet, muddy and slippery under foot. Lindsay took part in the 8k ladies race and finished the energy sapping route in 55.38 for 300th place. Gary tackled the four lap, 15k men's course and crossed the line in 65.52 to secure 248th position after a restrained start to the race followed by a powerful second half.
 
Second claim NHRR star Neilson Hall was also in action. In Bedford & County colours, Neilson finished in third place in the men's race amongst the cream of South England's elite male athletes.
