The North Herts Road Runners took to the mud and hills for the second race of the Three Counties cross country league on Sunday. 31 Squirrels braved the cold weather to travel to Wing and tackle the challenging course.
NHRR swept to victory in both the men’s and ladies’ individual races. Neil Miller finished at the front of the field and earned himself a convincing win over the chasing pack. Astrid McKeown built on her recent 5k success to also take first position. The ladies finished fourth overall with the men’s team in fifth to earn NHRR a combined fifth place.
Gary Cook and Oliver Saville lent excellent support to Neil Miller in the men’s scoring team coming home 19th and 24th respectively. Adrian Sherwood was 40th and Pete Northover finished in 50th position. Dave Frampton (57th) , John Russell (70th) and Richard Thackerey (71st) were the next NHRR men over the line with John Franklin and Chris Priestley further back in the field but still putting in valuable team performances.
In the ladies’ event Jo Summers was the second NHRR runner to finish, completing the course in 19th position with Claire Messenger following in 22nd. Karen Dodsworth and Jo Harbon reached in quick succession, Karen finishing just ahead in 30th and Jo in 31st. Anna Priestley and Anne Callis were the next over the line in 55th.
