Lindsay and Gary Cook were flying the flag for the North Herts Road Runners at the ING New York City Marathon at the weekend. The challenging 26.2 mile course took its toll on both local runners after around 19 miles but although their pace may have dropped they still finished with impressive times. Lindsay put in a strong run to record a time of 4.26.04 in her twelfth marathon. Conditions in the big apple were cold and windy but despite the wather and the famous undulations in Central Park Gary managed to finish in a new personal best time of 2.55.03 comfortably under the three hour mark.
Steve McKeown was the top performer for the North Herts Road Runners at the Stevanage Half Marathon on Sunday. He finished in 21st spot from around 750 competitors in cool and breezy conditions. Steve's time of 1:20:49 put him a couple of minutes in front of the next NHRR finisher; the ever improving Pete Scrowther. Pete recorded another PB at the weekend to cross the line in 32nd place in a time of 1:22.52. Adrian Sherwood also put in an excellent performance for the Squirrels in cool, overcast conditions. His time was 1:26:33 for 53rd place. Paul Kelley and Alan Jones were also racing and completed the course within a minute of each other. Paul finished in 1.30.44 to claim a place in the top 100 and Alan came home in 1:31.45 and 105th place.
