NHRR Report

Gary Cook of the North Herts Road Runners finished 23rd in last Sunday's Flitwick 10k in Bedfordshire. The race is held annually and always attracts a large and competitive field. Gary completed the course in 36:10 to continue his excellent form ahead of the Squirrel's forthcoming mid-week league fixtures. Peter Scrowther (78th) was the second NHRR  runner home in 40:04 with John Franklin (111th) not far behind in 42:03.

Steve Williamson (136th) was at the head of a closely packed group of Squirrels finishing in 42:42. He was followed across the line by Alan Jones (152nd; 43:15) and then Michael Moralee (163rd; 43:48). The first NHRR lady to complete the course was Jo Harbon in 46:47 with Suzy Trott (47:21) the second. Members Lindsay Cook (58:57) and Rachel Annetts (1:04:38) showed how well they have recovered from their recent London marathon efforts.

Steve and Astrid McKeown travelled to Bonn to compete in the German city's 8th half marathon. Astrid was 2nd in the ladies' race and brings home another international trophy. She finished in 1:19:09 just behind husband Steve who was 22nd in the men's race in 1:18:18.

Slightly closer to home James Atkins competed in the Great Langdale 10k in the Lake District on Sunday. He completed the race in 9th place from a field of around 400 in a time of 36:56.
